It's Geek to me

  • Mood: Sleepy
  • Movie of the moment: TV - The Late Late Show...or something like that
  • Quote: Diet Coke

I will be the first to admit...I am a geek.  I love J.R.R. Tolkien, know what a d20 is (and I am not afraid to use it), got the Harry Potter book on its release date - at midnight, went to the "Dear Friends" Final Fantasy concert in Chicago, dressed as a Star Wars character - both for halloween and for the premiere of one of the movies, named my cat after an anime character, got excited when I found out John Crichton joined the Stargate team,...oh, and did I mention...I am 28 years old!  This is the life I have chosen...and I like it.

I must say...my weakness is Star Wars.  Growing up, my brother and I always played with our Star Wars action figures.  I used my Luke Skywalker shampoo and even dressed up as Luke for Halloween when I was a little girl...thats right 'Luke' - I didn't want to be the DID.  For birthdays, my Mom and Aunt Pam made my cousins and me cakes decorated with Star Wars action figures.  I eventually 'grew out of it'...and was fine until I heard that Lucas was re-releasing the original trilogy.  James, a high school and college friend, and I went to each of the premieres - and enjoyed most of it (excluding the Jabba scene).  Since then, Lucas keeps releasing or re-releasing things that I feel I must buy.  While browsing the web, I found that he is releasing ANOTHER box set of the trilogy.  As far as I can tell, there is nothing new - just another way for Lucas to make money.  GRRRRRR!!!!

So, here is where I draw the line!  I may play SW tabletop.  I may own all the movies - including the horrid episodes 1 and 2.  I will buy episode 3!  I even own action figures...but I will NOT buy this new package of the same old thing...hopefully.

OH...almost forgot:

Scary!!! Heard on talk radio - even though I hate listening to the conservative BS.

Well, time for bed....yay!  More geekiness to follow.

Hi. I found your site through bravezilla. I am from Missouri, I live in Ohio now. I grew up in Kansas City, lived all over the area...Gladstone, Claycomo, Northtown, Riverside etc. Moved to Sedalia later in life. My daughters live in Cole Camp and Marshfield. Anyway, just touching base with someone from home. You are about the same age as my daughter Missi. She is the one in Cole Camp. Anyway, just touchig base with a Missouri person!! Have a great day! I love your site!! By the way, My niece and nephew are also big Star Wars fans, they have seen every episode!!
